Dr. Joy Arciaga BSc, DC

CHIROPRACTOR, NEUROSCIENCE SPECIALTY

I help people for a living and I love what I do. The best part of my day is knowing I've changed someone's life. If I can do that for even just one person, my day is a success. I want to help as many people in my community achieve their health goals as possible. I hope to change the way people think about their health - that being healthy is the norm, not the outlier.

HEAL TORONTO, THEN THE WORLD. ONE PERSON AT A TIME.

Philosophy:

  1. Assess/treat the cause of dysfunction (not pain) restoring the ideal NEUROLOGY of the brain and body.
  2. Your BRAIN controls everything in the body  & stress is by far the most dangerous factor regarding health.
  3. My goal is to improve your brain function and enhance it's ability to adapt, respond and recover from stress.

Techniques: No one approach is right for every individual, and so I do whatever works. Adjustments, soft tissue therapy, acupuncture, stretching, rehabilitation & strengthening exercises, Thompson Technique, instrument assisted soft tissue therapy, BrainTap, myofascial release, multi-sensory therapy, shockwave and pretty much whatever works. I enjoy treating whole families and since recently becoming a father, have taken a keen interest in treating women throughout their pregnancy to ensure a healthy mom and baby. I am certified in Webster Technique, a technique system specific for assessing and treating pregnant women.

Education: University of Alberta - Neuroscience Specialization, Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College

When I'm not in the clinic (which is never): I'm lifting weights, boxing, reading a book at a coffee shop or looking after my son. I love personal development , training, UFC, NBA and NFL Fantasy Football.

Facts about yours truly: I grew up in Edmonton, Alberta. I'm a chocolate and sushi addict. One day I would like to own a donut shop.

Live with purpose & success is a learned habit.

Sutherland-Chan Massage Therapy School in Toronto. 2007
Reflexology at Centennial College. Top of class. 2007
Reiki certificate from Reiki Soul in Toronto. 2014
Personal Training certificate from canfitpro. 2016
Raisa is very passionate about the body — or more importantly, about teaching people how to use their bodies to feel their best, as well as identify blocks, whether physical, mental, or spiritual, in order to resolve any issue and feel amazing.

Raisa graduated from Sutherland-Chan Massage Therapy School in Toronto in 2007, and over the last 12 years has consistently worked in the field with a range of clients, of all ages and backgrounds.

While studying to achieve her Massage Therapy diploma and Registration with the CMTO (College of Massage Therapists of Ontario), she completed her certification of Reflexology at Centennial College. She was obsessed with the fact that reflexes in the feet can assess and heal the entire body. Reflexology is the use of pressure points and reflexes in the feet that affect every part, gland, and organ in the body.

Several years later, Raisa incorporated an even more holistic approach to her practice with Reiki, where she studied privately at Reiki Soul Toronto. Raisa is currently continuing to pursue Mastery and Teaching levels in order to share the amazing gift of self-healing with others. Reiki is a powerful healing art form that deals with balancing energies in and around of the physical body, creating a safe and relaxed atmosphere. Where the body is relaxed, the body is safe to heal itself.

Most recently, in 2016, she completed her certification as a Personal Trainer at canfitpro, also in Toronto. She had a desire to excel her knowledge of the physical body with the best practices of movement and exercise. Prior to this certificate, she had worked as a personal and group fitness trainer for about 2 years. When working with clients, she enjoys educating them on how training exercises can assist with activities of everyday life.
.
Personally, Raisa enjoys a range of weight training, running, cycling, and yoga and meditation. She is very interested in Martial Arts. At best, she enjoys practices that improve posture, energy, and the body as a holistic functioning unit.

Today, you can expect a joyful and positive attitude, with an informed treatment, focusing on deep tissue techniques to elicit your best relaxation.

EDUCATION
Canadian College of Massage & Hydrotherapy, Cum Laude, 2015 Florida School of Massage

PROFESSIONAL FOCUS
Lauren found her calling in massage therapy by accident, literally, after she had a car accident in 2010.  Through her own journey, struggling with pain and dysfunction, she found massage therapy, specifically Myofascial Release, to be the most effective when it came to her healing.  She moved to Gainesville Florida, studied and graduated from the Florida School of Massage, moved to Victoria BC to learn more about Rolfing, then finally came back home to Toronto to acquire her Canadian license from the Canadian College of Massage & Hydrotherapy. She graduated Cum Laude in 2015.

With a deep understanding of the human body, Lauren practices her art with passion, precision, awareness, and love.  She believes in treating the cause of a persons ailment, not the symptoms, therefore her approach is multi-focused. She uses traditional techniques like Swedish Deep Tissue Massage as well as Non-Swedish Massage techniques, specifically John F. Barnes, P.T. Myofascial Release work.  Her intuitive insights help her to practice healing on a physical, emotional and spiritual level.  She believes in being a guide for her patients, an equal partner in their recovery, and bringing her patients to a place of confidence, joy and lust for life!
