Upon successful completion of their program and government Board exams, Therapists become registered under the "Regulated Health Professions Act" over seen by the Ministry of Health.

With an extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, neurology, and endocrinology, Registered Massage Therapists can competently assess and treat a plethora of conditions. Massage Therapy primarily involves, but is not limited, to a hands on approach to manipulating the soft tissues of the body, including muscles, connective tissue, tendons, and ligaments.

Massage Therapists may also use stretching, and joint mobilization techniques during a treatment, and are qualified to give exercise prescription, supervised, or for home care.
Conditions can be profoundly affected by a therapeutic massage on its own or in conjunction with other treatments or modalities.

Massage therapy is also remarkably effective when used as part of a preventive care program. Some examples of general wellness care include pre or post-partum, infant massage, stress management.
